Our Origin Story
Leading upto 2022
It all started several decades ago in the 1980s when Pramod Kabra joined Hindustan Unilever. As he worked his way up the corporate ladder he realized he not only enjoyed running businesses, but also studying them and thus started his investment journey.
He ran a loosely researched portfolio with whatever time he could spare through his 23 years at HUL and a subsequent 16 years as General Partner at True North (PE). He ensured he built a diversified portfolio to mitigate the risk of the unknown as he could do limited research.
Even with these handicaps and a little bit of luck, he was able to generate an IRR of 23% for his portfolio (this performance was prior to the firm being established).
Meanwhile, Parikshit was finding his feet in the world. After graduating from University College London (barely) in Economics, he struggled to get a job due to poor grades and realized he needed to take life a little more seriously.
He got into IIM A and joined Bain & Co. as a management consultant. However, sharing his father’s love for business, he craved for an entrepreneurial journey and subsequently joined Zolo Stays as the Head of Business.
He went on to co-found shopthearena.com in 2021 where he was responsible for the garment manufacturing process. But around 2022 he decided to discontinue his journey, and began looking for his next venture.
The firm is conceptualized
Pramod retired from True North around the same time when Parikshit found himself unemployed again. As they both explored their options and continued to manage their portfolio, they realized the perfect opportunity was right in front of them.
This led to the conceptualization of Pkeday as an investment firm that would allow them to work together on something they were both passionate about. Over the last two years, the firm has evolved into a more structured organization. We run a more consolidated, researched book with an IRR that has (so far) exceeded our expectations.
